Sherwin-Williams announced its 2021 color of the year–you know, since we’re all already over 2020–and it’s Urbane Bronze, a rich shade with gray undertones. The dark, warm paint color aims to bring a sense of comfort to the home–whether it’s used for the interior or exterior.

“The home is now the ultimate retreat from the world, and color is an easy and effective way to create a personal haven,” Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release. “Urbane Bronze encourages you to create a sanctuary space for mindful reflection and renewal.”

The neutral color is part of the Sanctuary palette in the Sherwin-Williams 2021 Colormix Forecast, a report that predicts a need for balance in design for the upcoming year. The color boasts a connection to the design of the ‘70s and ‘90s with a modern spin.

The brand suggests pairing Urbane Bronze with other warm neutrals–bone whites like its Modern Gray or a hint of green with its Messenger Bag color. Other natural materials complement the shade, including wood finishes, stone accents, woven textiles, and mixed metals.

We could all use a little serenity now, throughout 2021, and for the foreseeable future. Urbane Bronze walls could be the first step toward attracting longer moments of tranquility! And why wait until 2021 to do so? The color is already available to order online for pick-up at Sherwin-Williams stores nationwide through the brand’s website.
