Shay Mitchell Says Her 2 Daughters Have Started Stealing 'Anything Sparkly' from Her Closet (Exclusive)

Mitchell tells PEOPLE about her kids' interest in fashion and her family’s style tradition during the holidays

Shay Mitchell is raising two fashionistas!

The Béis founder tells PEOPLE that her daughters, Atlas, 5, and Rome, 2, have reached the age where they’ve started staking their claim on her closet.

“They go in and they always grab my bags. They’re very into anything sparkly,” the mom of two shares at an H&M party in N.Y.C. on Nov. 18.

“I've caught them recently getting the little miniature versions of my bags and strutting those around. I have to definitely keep an eye on them now because they're like little kleptos in my closet,” she jokes.

But having her little ones try on her sartorial possessions doesn’t bother Mitchell much because, she explains, “that's my excuse for buying anything. I'm like, ‘I have two daughters, both of them will be able to use it.'"

Of course, Rome and Atlas, whom the Pretty Little Liars star shares with partner Matte Babel, have a trendy mom to look up to.

Time and time again, Mitchell has proven how much of a pro she is at dressing up (one of her most memorable looks this year was the grand vermillion William Chavarria cape she wore to Paris Fashion Week in September).

With the holidays right around the corner, she’ll be sprinkling some of her chic flair into her festive looks too.

“I love the bling, the glitter, the sequins and the frills. I love all of it. More is more during the holidays,” she says.

At the same time though, she does make room for cozier options. Of her family traditions she shares: “We definitely are in pajamas pretty much the whole day on Christmas, so that's my vibe. It's the one day when we don't get dressed.”

A self-care routine is always a priority for the multi-hyphenate, who in May debuted the Max docuseries Thirst (which she both hosts and executive produced with Babel) and recently wrapped up filming for a new movie that she teases is slated to come out next year.

So right now, she's taking things at a slower pace with her wellness and beauty rituals.

"When you're in the winter, it's moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Lip mask, face mask, hair mask, hair oiling, body oiling, coconut oil. Just lather yourself up," she says.

And when she's not doing that? “Having a me day where I literally just sit in bed, order all the food deliveries and then watch a show while scrolling on my phone and not feeling bad about [bed] rotting. Sometimes we need to do that."
