Shania Twain reveals why she continues to rock pink hair

Shania Twain is “embracing aging” in a stylish way.

In a new interview with Extra, the country-pop icon, 58, said she’s “fine with” getting older. “I don’t have a choice, I can't change it. I decided that whatever I can’t change then I need to have fun with it,” Twain told the outlet.

One of those changes included going gray, which she started to accept by experimenting with colorful hair changes.

“Of course I can color my hair, but what I wanted to get used to was ‘what do I look like with my hair going lighter and lighter and lighter?' ” which is how she landed on her most recent cotton candy pink hairstyle revealed by hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos on Instagram April 18. Twain later posted her selfie with the punk look, which was actually a wig, on May 7.

“The pink surprisingly made me look and feel younger somehow and it’s so light, it's practically gray. So that was a really good surprise,” she added.

Twain rocked the same pink blonde hue in January 2023 and at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, where she shocked fans in a bold hair color similar to the one she wore in the 1997 music video for “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

As she continues to make bold hair changes, the five-time Grammy winner is redefining beauty standards. And, worrying about what others think of her daring beauty choices is the least of her concerns as she nears 60.

“You start realizing with more experience that you waste a lot of time worrying and fearing and fear is just in your way,” she told Extra.

While she believes there are some things in life worth fretting over, there are others that aren’t. “I'm not afraid of aging. What a waste of my energy to worry and fear that.”

Today, she’s putting all of her good vibes into her Come on Over Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater, which kicked off in early May.

Earlier this month, Twain told PEOPLE that her concert wardrobe consists of 20 wigs (dyed to match her natural brunette shade as well as any crazy colors she wants to experiment with) and a ruffled black gown she wears to perform "From This Moment." The dress, which weighs close to 30 lbs. is so important to the show that Twain named it “Fiona” and refers to it by name. “She is a structure. I designed her."
