8 Jan –Veteran actress-director Shahriza Mahmud is still in a critical condition, after being hospitalised on Sunday for high fever.

The news was shared by her husband, Saddiq Raffali on social media on 7 January, posting, "Day 3 in CCU. My love [Shahriza Mahmud] is still in critical condition. Doctors have identified the type of bacteria in her system. COVID test result still pending. Please continue your support and prayers for her."

"Not a single doubt in my mind that she's a fighter. She'll pull through this. She always have and always will be," he added.

Soon after, Saddiq - who was previously worried that his wife could have had COVID-19, shared that she was tested negative for the coronavirus.

However, he admitted that the family has yet to be able to go and visit Shahriza, who is currently in a coma, as there were other patients at the CCU awaiting their COVID-19 screening results.

Previously, it was reported that the "Monalisa" actress had to be rushed to the hospital after experiencing high fever that led to ravings. Saddiq later revealed that the doctors found bacterial infections in her blood and lungs.
