KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has emerged as the highest grossing Hindi film in the history of cinema (original language).

The makers of the film, Red Chillies Entertainment, announced the update on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday evening.

As of Monday, Jawan has minted Rs 1,117 crore (US$134.2 million) worldwide ever since its release last month.

The star-studded film, directed by Atlee and produced by Gauri Khan, has been on a record-breaking spree, both at home and abroad.

Globally, Jawan is now the second-highest grossing Bollywood movie, just behind Aamir Khan's Dangal.

Last week, Jawan also became the first Indian film to cross the US$16 million mark in the United Arab Emirates box office, making it the biggest Indian movie of all time in the Middle East region.

With his earlier release Pathaan and now Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan is currently the first and only Indian actor to have two Rs 1,000 crore (US$120.1 million) grossers in a single year.
