Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves has spoken of how she was told while pregnant that she should not be in the Cabinet because she "wouldn't be able to hold down a big job whilst also being a mum". She added: "No one says that about male MPs, that someone can't be a dad and have a big job in politics, so this sexism and misogyny … it happens all the time." .
