Potential wet weekend ahead for Cavendish festival-goers
Friday afternoon began what is forecast to be a wet Cavendish Beach Music Festival weekend in Prince Edward Island.
Earlier Friday, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for western P.E.I.'s Prince County.
The watch was issued around 4 p.m. and ended just after 7 p.m.
CBC P.E.I. meteorologist Jay Scotland said Saturday and Sunday could also be damp at times.
"Showers overnight Friday will be followed by a cloudy Saturday with periods of rain and the potential for locally heavy downpours," he said.
"Sunday will be mostly cloudy with showers and periods of rain possible, especially in the morning."
Scotland said there is a risk of isolated thunderstorms on Saturday, with temperatures reaching the 19 C to 23 C degree range with a gusty 20-40 km/h south-southwesterly wind.
He said temperatures Sunday will reach the low to mid-20s, but it may feel near 30 for some areas with the humidex.
