Severe Storms and Powerful Winds Sweep Through Northern Illinois

The National Weather Service warned of severe storms and powerful winds for areas in northern Illinois on September 7.

Footage by Joliet Weather Center shows heavy rain and strong winds east of Lisbon.

The National Weather Service in Chicago said winds reaching 70mph were possible.

Later on Tuesday, it said the storm had intensified and was likely to bring “hail to golf ball size as it approaches Kankakee County, and the communities of Essex and Union Hill.” Credit: Joliet Weather Center via Storyful
