Several Killed as Homes, Roads Flood in Elizabeth, New Jersey

At least five people were killed in Elizabeth, New Jersey, as heavy rain and wind from the remnants of storm Ida lashed the northeast on the evening of September 1 into the early morning hours of September 2.

At least 20 other people died due to the severe weather in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, according to media reports.

New Jersey Gov Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency in response to the severe weather.
