Several Firefighters Injured Battling Route Fire in LA County

The Route Fire in Los Angeles County, California, had grown to more than 5,200 acres by Thursday morning, September 1, after prompting the closure of Interstate 5 on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD).

Mandatory evacuations were in effect for several areas, and several lanes of the freeway remained closed on Thursday morning. The fire was 12-percent contained as of 7.13 am Thursday, according to fire officials.
