Seungri to be released from prison soon

7 Feb – Former BIGBANG member Seungri is set to be released from prison soon.

The singer, who was indicted for nine criminal charges back in 2020, is set to be out on 11 February, after the Supreme Court earlier reduced his sentence to 1.5 years from the three years that he was originally given.

Seungri is currently serving in a civilian prison following the previous transfer from the military.

The news of his upcoming release came as a surprise to many, who didn't notice the time that has passed since his sentencing. However, many hoped that Seungri will not try and resume his activities as soon as he is released.

Seungri, real name Lee Seung-Hyun, was charged with sexual bribery and embezzlement after he was linked to the Burning Sun scandal.

On 11 March 2019, amid the investigation, the singer announced his departure from BIGBANG and retirement from showbiz.
