The Senate Intelligence Committee will hear testimony Wednesday from officials who are assessing the potential threats to election security by foreign actors this November.
In a March 9 call with reporters, a senior FBI official described the risks as “more diverse and expansive than ever.”
The official pointed to China’s increased use of spurious social media accounts as one area of particular concern. According to the same source, artificial intelligence (AI) has given malign actors the opportunity to launch larger campaigns than in the past.
Wednesday’s hearing is slated to start at 2:30 pm EDT.
