Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause reveals she found out about her divorce by text
Selling Sunset season 3 dropped on Netflix today, and this season is as dramatic as it is heartbreaking. At the end of season 2, fans saw a teaser of Chrishell Stause's divorce which hit headlines last November.
This series picks up where it left off; focusing on the fall out as the actor-turned-estate agent tries to make sense of what happened with ex Justin Hartley and why he filed for divorce so suddenly.
After moving out of the home they shared in The Valley, Chrishell heads to a hotel before finding somewhere permanent to live. Offering her support, Mary goes to visit her and the pair discuss what happened.
"I don’t know," Chrishell tells her. "I just feel like... sorry I’m just in shock with it all. I’m trying to keep it together but it’s a lot all at once because everybody in the whole world knows the same time that I knew. Have you ever been knocked over by a wave and you don’t know which way to swim to get up?"
Mary admits she's confused, especially because the This Is Us actor had donated gifts to the charity event Chrishell had only just hosted.
"We were totally fine that day. I thought we were totally fine," the realtor replies.
Chrishell explains that they had a fight that morning over the phone and she hadn't seen him since, adding, "We didn’t talk things through and before we had a chance to figure anything out, he’d filed."
When Mary asks how she found out, Chrishell drops a bombshell, replying: "Um, I found out because he text me that we were filed."
"He text you?" a shocked Mary replies.
"And 45 minutes later the world knew."
"He just blindsided you?" Mary asks.
To camera, a tearful Chrishell says, "Because of the crazy way in which this went down, people want answers. I f**king want answers."
"That's sh**ty, that's beyond sh**ty," Mary tells her. "Part of a relationship is you talk about it and compromise and try and change for the other person. But those are two different things - getting upset and going down to the courthouse and filing. That’s huge."
Chrishell says she spoke to Justin "right after because I thought that must be a joke but that was kind of the end of the communication. What am I supposed to say? What do you say after that? Now I have to find a place to live, now I have to scramble and figure this out."
The agent, who married Justin in October 2017 after dating for four years, tells Mary she's both angry and sad.
"It takes a toll on your self worth where you just feel the anger, like, how could you do it this way? And the sadness of I love him so much, this was my best friend and who do I talk to now? It’s such a rollercoaster."

Describing the moment she found out, Chrishell says she was just about to leave the house for work.
"I immediately just grabbed a few things and I just got out of there as fast as I could. I don’t think I really knew where I was going or what I was going to do, but I just had to leave," she tells camera.
"When I think of marriage, I think of you work on things with people if they’re not perfect, you know, no one is. You work on it, you talk about it… you don’t throw out, you don’t go out looking for greener grass, sometimes you have to water the grass that you have and that’s what marriage is. Sometimes it can be hard. I mean, I don’t think it should be more hard than easy at all. But that’s why I am so confused because I didn’t feel like that balance was off, I just feel stupid."
We really hope Chrishell is doing OK. Break ups and divorces are tough enough as it is, never mind when they take place in the public eye.
