10 Aug – Fans who've missed seeing Selena Gomez starring in a TV series will soon get to see the singer-actress leading a brand-new comedy show.

The 28-year-old has signed on to star in "Only Murders in the Building", as per The Wrap's report.

There's no detail on Gomez's character but it is known that the series follows "three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one".

Aside from starring, Gomez is also executive producing the Hulu show along with Martin Short and Steve Martin, the latter also wrote the script with "Grace & Frankie's" John Hoffman.

Her involvement in the series marks her first scripted television role after about a decade. She last led "Wizards of Waverly Place", the Disney Channel show which ran for five years until 2012. Following the show's conclusion, she began to focus more on big screen works.

Other than starring in movies like "Monte Carlo", "Spring Breakers" and "The Dead Don't Little", Gomez also lends her voice to animated characters such as Mavis in the "Hotel Transylvania" franchise and Betsy the giraffe in "Dolittle".

Before "Only Murders in the Building", fans will first get to see the pop star in her cooking show "Selena + Chef", which will premiere on HBO Max this week.
