Selena Gomez on Not Letting Fans' Opinions Affect Relationship with Benny Blanco: 'He's Not Going Anywhere Any Time Soon'

The actress/pop star also opened up about her previous plans to adopt in a 'TIME' cover story

Selena Gomez is unbothered by other people's opinions on her love life.

In a cover story with TIME, the actress/pop star, 31, opened up about sharing her relationship with Benny Blanco with the public and grappling with fans' reactions to their romance.

"I know what people can do to people I love," she told the publication. "My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life. But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him."

Gomez continued: "It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere any time soon."

The "Fetish" singer insisted that her producer boyfriend, 36, isn't her only "source of happiness."

"I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it," Gomez said. "A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it."

The Only Murders in the Building star had come up with a plan.

"I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone," Gomez said.

Of her romance with Blanco, she added: “It just happens when you least expect it."

Gomez and Blanco had known each other for years before they started dating in June 2023, having collaborated on the 2019 single "I Can't Get Enough" with Tainy and J Balvin. In the song's music video, the pair even shared a sweet scene on an oversized bed, where he dressed as a plush bear and she wore pajamas.

In August 2023, the Emilia Perez star released the Blanco-produced single "Single Soon." She then confirmed their relationship in a December 2023 when she liked fan account posts on Instagram of the pair, even commenting, “He is my absolute everything in my heart,” on one.

She also showed off a "B" ring and called the her musician beau "the best thing that's ever happened to me" in a comment.
