Security Guard Draws Gun on Protesters at ICE Facility in New York City

An armed security guard pointed her gun at a group of protesters on September 16 in the lobby of a lower Manhattan federal building that houses an FBI office and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s New York City field office.

Jarrett Robertson was participating in the protest and captured video footage of the security guard as she waves her gun at the crowd of protesters before putting it back in her holster.

“I was shocked what I was witnessing. I’ve never seen a gun pulled on protesters,” Robertson told Storyful.

The protests follow a whistleblower complaint alleging that a doctor had performed questionable hysterectomies on several women at an immigration detention facility in Ocilla, Georgia.

Robertson told Storyful the protesters continued chanting in the lobby of the building until it was made clear they would not be let further inside. They then dispersed, he said.
