Sebastian Stan is channeling a young Donald Trump for his next role.

The actor, who has previously portrayed real-life figures like Tommy Lee, plays Trump during an era decades before his presidency in The Apprentice.

On April 11, the first official photo debuted of Stan in character alongside costar Jeremy Strong as lawyer Roy Cohn, who died in 1986. The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The Apprentice, directed by Ali Abbasi and written by Gabriel Sherman, began filming in November 2023. The film also stars Maria Bakalova, Oscar nominee from the 2020 Borat sequel, as Ivana Trump, who died in 2022.

According to a press release, the new movie is "an exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit. It's a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty."

A synopsis adds that The Apprentice "reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers."
