Seat negotiations between Pakatan and Barisan at a good progress, says PKR vice-president Chang Lih Kang
KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 — Seat negotiations between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the coming six-state elections is ongoing at a good progress, PKR vice-president Chang Lih Kang said today.
He however said it was difficult to gauge in terms of how much has been discussed.
“It’s hard to say. We have not come to the stage of candidate (negotiation), we are talking about seats allocation,” Chang told reporters at a press conference after a debriefing session on the prime minister’s recent visit to China.
When asked about a timeline of when negotiations will be finalised, Chang responded in jest that usually it would stretch right up to a day before nomination day.
“If following past tradition, it will be a day before nomination day.
“We hope that it can be settled as soon as possible, but usually there will be one or two seats that will be stuck.
“So that’s why to come up with a finalised list, one day or on the day of nomination day,” he added.
In a similar tone, on March 26, DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo was reported saying the discussions between PH and BN for the upcoming polls have not been completed yet.
Gobind did express hope for the process to be settled soon.
Secretary-general Anthony Loke also previously said that his suggestion for each party to defend its own seats is only for Negeri Sembilan, and that the other states’ DAP divisions will be using their own methods for seat negotiations.
