SEA Games Esports Day 2: Thailand, Vietnam continue dominance in Wild Rift, FIFA
The action continued on day two of the 2022 Hanoi Southeast Asia Games esports events on Saturday (14 May), with the group stages for the Men’s League of Legends: Wild Rift and FIFA Online 4 competitions concluding.
Host country Vietnam and Thailand continue to dominate the competition heading into the playoffs of both Wild Rift and FIFA.
Men’s League of Legends: Wild Rift
With the Laotian team out of the event, the seven participating teams were down to six for the second day of the Men's Wild Rift Group Stage.
However, each team maintained their respective groups, with the top two teams of these groups advancing to the Final Stage.
Much like Friday, Vietnam once again dominated in Group A, beating Myanmar and Singapore (and the default win from Laos) to gain a clean 6-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Singapore sat closely at second place with a 4-2 record, while Myanmar ended the day in third place with a 2-4 record.
Thailand also managed to maintain their Group B lead with a 4-0 record, thanks to victories against Malaysia and the Philippines.
Malaysia managed to claim the second playoff spot with a 2-2 record, while the Philippines finished last place with a 0-4 score.
Men’s League of Legends: Wild Rift Standings
Group A:
Vietnam: 6-0
Singapore: 4-2
Myanmar: 2-4
Laos: NA
Group B:
Thailand: 4-0
Malaysia: 2-2
Philippines: 0-4
The Men's Wild Rift playoffs will kick off with Thailand taking on Singapore and Vietnam facing Malaysia.
The winners of those matches will face off for the gold medal while the losing teams will play another match for the bronze medal.

Day two of the esports event also saw FIFA conclude its group stage, where six teams were split into two groups of three each.
Group winners advanced to the upper bracket finals, while runners-up would proceed to the lower bracket semifinals.
Vietnam also managed to dominate in FIFA’s Group A, winning against Malaysia and the Philippines and ending the day with 5 points. Malaysia followed behind with 4 points, while the Philippines trail at third place with 0 points.
Thailand held the same lead in Group B, sweeping Singapore and Indonesia for a flawless 6 points.
Singapore sit at second with 2 points, while Indonesia’s 1 point puts them at third.

The FIFA playoffs will kick off with the upper bracket final between Vietnam and Thailand, with the winners taking the first spot in the grand finals.
This will be followed by the lower bracket semifinals between Malaysia and Singapore, with the winners of that match facing the losers of the upper bracket final for the second spot in the grand finals.
The esports event at the 2021 Hanoi Southeast Asian Games will take place at Hanoi's National Convention Center from 13 to 22 May.
The event will feature ten esports competitions: League of Legends, Men's and Women's League of Legends: Wild Rift, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Individual and team PUBG Mobile, Arena of Valor, Free Fire, Cross Fire, and FIFA Online 4.
