Ghostface voice artist Roger L. Jackson has already revealed a spoiler concerning the fifth Scream movie.

Now in production, the upcoming instalment gathers castmates old and new for another round of knife-wielding terror, including David Arquette (as Deputy Dewey), Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gail Weathers) and The Boys favourite Jack Quaid.

But according to Jackson, one major change will be introduced by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

"There's been a rumour going around that the ultra-white mask is involved..." he said during a recent interview with Ghostface UK (via The Daily Mail).

"What I will tell you is that the killer, the main killer, will not have the ultra-white mask. There's something else involved, and it's not the white mask!"

Considering all previous incumbents of the 'killer' title wore the ghostly mask, this is a huge call and one that could definitely prove divisive with fans.

Meanwhile, Scream newcomer Jenna Ortega suggested the latest instalment "fits perfectly" into the slasher series.

"Throughout the years, the franchise has done really well at calling back and bringing some sort of nostalgic aspects to the script. I'll definitely say that there are some here," she noted.

Ortega also admitted she's "very, very pleased with how the script has been written and [with] everything that's to come."

The new Scream has a release date of January 14, 2022.
