If Normal People was the TV highlight of lockdown 1.0, then Netflix’s Schitt’s Creek is winning lockdown 2.0. After it picked up nine awards at the Emmy's, it feels like anyone who didn't know of its brilliance before, does now.

It’s hard not to binge-watch the series, which centres on a rich American family forced to live in a fictional rural town called Schitt’s Creek, when they go bankrupt.

There’s much to love about the comedy produced by father and son team Eugene and Daniel Levy, who also star in the roles of Johnny and David Rose on the show.

But despite Schitt's Creek being a fictional place, is there actually anywhere fans can visit from the show? Surprisingly, yes!

Goodwood

It turns out much of the show was actually shot on location in Canada, specifically a short drive north of Toronto in Goodwood. The now attracts the show’s fans, Schitt Heads, who love nothing better than to pose in front of the Town Hall, Bob’s Garage and Cafe Tropical (actually a private house).

The Rosebud Motel

The place where the Roses live after relocating is top of the must-visit list. It was actually called the Hockley Valley Motel and, while you can’t actually stay there atm, you can pull in to get a pic.

The motel building, which also starred in Netflix show The Umbrella Academy, lies on Hockley Road in Orangeville, Ontario and is instantly recognisable even without the Rosebud sign.

The owner apparently rented it out to the Schitt’s Creek film crew and also advertised it on airbnb, but is now putting the place up for sale. Fingers-crossed some enterprising person turns it into a RL Rosebud Motel so we can check-in soon. BTW it’s on GoogleMaps and fans leave humorous, fictional reviews if you want some lockdown lols.

Rose Apothecary

David’s oh-so-chic store was actually filmed in Romni Goodwood, which lies on the main junction in Goodwood (opposite Bob’s Garage!) It’s actually a wool and craft shop rather than selling Patrick and David’s upmarket cheese, wine and body milk (no, you can’t drink it). Go in, take a selfie, ask for the behind-the-scenes gossip.

Oh and if you do want to buy a Rose Apothecary-branded scented candle, linen bag or hoodie or even a ‘you’re simply the best’ mug for a fan for Christmas, check out all the amazing merch on Etsy.

Where did Patrick propose to David?

He popped the question at stunning Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area in season five. David hurt his foot and had to be carried up the hill to enjoy the romantic picnic, but Patrick still proposed and the world shed a tear. Well worth the hike, it’s has amazing views and is definitely an epic spot for a marriage proposal.

Herb Ertlinger Winery

Remember when Moira Rose was asked to be a spokesperson for this fruity wine until she got a case of the jitters filming an advert and had to sample the produce to calm her nerves? It was filmed at scenic Applewood Farm and Winery, where you can do wine tastings and also go fruit picking, just like Moira would never do.

Elmbridge Manor

The gorgeous wedding venue David and Patrick visit in season six? It’s actually called Graydon Manor Hall in Toronto and is a stunning Georgian mansion with amazing gardens and a great hall, ideal for a lavish wedding.

We hope you enjoyed this little trip to Schitt’s Creek and if you didn’t? ‘Eat glass’ as David would say.
