Chinese star carry player Song “Sccc” Chun has parted ways with EHOME a mere ten days before the start of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season, with the move being announced on the team’s Weibo account on Thursday (7 January) and reported by VPesports.
Sccc’s departure from EHOME comes at his own request and his contract with the team was terminated peacefully, EHOME revealed in its announcement.
Sccc joined EHOME during the most recent roster shuffle for the Chinese Dota 2 scene in September. In his time with the team, Sccc helped EHOME win Season 2 of the DPL-CDA Dota 2 Professional League, finish second at China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 1 and Season 2 of the DPL-CDA Dota 2 Professional Championship, as well as back-to-back third place finishes at China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 2 and OGA Dota PIT Online: China Season 4.
Thanks to their strong performance following the roster shuffle, EHOME earned one of the four direct invites to the Upper Division of the DPC’s Chinese regional league, alongside PSG.LGD, Vici Gaming, and Elephant.
Sccc will be replaced by Malaysian player Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son, who most recently played for LGD.international.
Sccc started his professional career with Newbee in 2015, eventually gaining recognition as one of the best midlaners in China and leading his team to the grand finals of The International 2017 (TI7). He left Newbee in September 2019 to join Aster as their carry player.
Sccc has not yet given a statement regarding his departure from EHOME at the time of writing. It remains unclear whether he will be joining a new team prior to the start of the DPC or taking a break from competitive play.
The first season of the DPC’s Chinese regional league will run longer compared to the other regional leagues, from 18 January to 14 March, as it will be having a break in the middle of the season to accommodate the Chinese New Year on 12 February.
