Scarlett Johansson is hoping nobody ever gets to read her group texts with her Avengers costars.

While speaking with The New York Times for a recent feature story to promote her new movie Fly Me to the Moon, Johansson, 39, opened up about her bond with her Marvel Cinematic Universe costars Chris EvansRobert Downey Jr.Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo — though she prefers to keep the details of the group's text chain private.

"Yes, that’s true. But hopefully, nobody will ever read it," Johansson said after she was asked to confirm or deny whether the cast maintains a group thread. "Everything goes on in there. I mean, really. If somebody’s gotten terrible reviews, that could be something that comes up."

Johansson and her five male costars formed the nucleus of Marvel's Avengers superhero team, which shepherded the massively popular film franchise through four Avengers titles between 2012 and 2019, along with a host of solo film appearances for each cast member along the way. Though Johansson's own journey with Marvel concluded after her character received her own solo movie with 2021's Black Widow, the actress insisted that the group is "like a family" in the new interview.

"We’ve been through an incredible experience over a decade plus of time. It was life-changing for all of us," she said. "If you text the chain, you can guarantee that within a few minutes, most people will respond, which is great."

“Oh, f--- yeah, it’s a real thing — it’s not just for Instagram. We f-----’ hate that s---," Renner said at the time. "No, we have a family chat and have for a long time. When you work with people — look, we all went through a culturally significant experience together. And there’s divorces and marriages and babies; a lot of stuff happened in these 12 years."

"In the films, we look like we’re at a costume party, and there’s ridiculous props and we’re doing these ridiculous things, but it’s also beautiful because we’re all connected," he added. "There’s a brotherhood or sisterhood or whatever the heck you want to call it. I just call it love."

Fly Me to the Moon is in theaters now.
