Savannah Chrisley Shares the 'Next Process' for Dad Todd After His Appeal Was Denied, Mom Julie's Was Approved
Julie's appeal in the couple's ongoing legal battle was granted whereas Todd's was ultimately rejected, leaving him to complete the remainder of his sentence

On the latest episode of her Unlocked podcast, the couple’s 26-year-old daughter shared what the next steps are for her dad Todd, 55, since his appeal was denied despite his wife Julie’s appeal being granted.
“The next process for dad is going through and filing the motion for the 2255, which is ineffective assistance of counsel, and then taking that step by step,” she explained on the July 2 episode. “So that's pretty much where we're at with that.”

The Chrisley Knows Best alum went on to say that her goal is to have Julie, 51, home by Thanksgiving so she can “have time to truly focus on all of dad’s stuff.” After her mom’s conviction was tossed, Savannah said she hoped to have the same outcome for Todd’s case, but she doesn’t see the legal system as fair.
“What's so sad about this whole thing is that you're literally negotiating with the devil,” she began. “The government, they have a 97, 98% conviction rate. Why is that? That is because they scare people into entering into a plea agreement. They have unlimited resources. They can fight you till the very end.”
The former Masked Singer contestant added, “That's what sucks because I look at this and when we got this opinion back, it was pretty bittersweet because not only did, yeah, it sucked that there wasn't better a better outcome for dad, but then I looked at it and I was so grateful for the outcome for mom.”
Julie’s sentence for the couple's 2019 indictment on tax evasion, conspiracy and bank and wire fraud was thrown out on June 21. The judge stated that the case lacked sufficient evidence for Julie’s conviction, but upheld Todd’s.
"We're pleased that the Court agreed that Julie's sentence was improper, but we’re obviously disappointed that it rejected Todd’s appeal," the Chrisleys' attorney Alex Little told PEOPLE in a statement.
"With this step behind us, we can now challenge the couple's convictions based on the illegal search that started the case," Little added. "The family appreciates the continued support they've received throughout this process. And they're hopeful for more good news in the future."

Despite submitting their appeal toward the end of 2022 after receiving their convictions that November, Todd and Julie reported to prison in January 2023. They were set to serve a combined 19 years but their sentences were reduced in September 2023 by nearly two years.
Their youngest children, Grayson and Chloe (who is the biological daughter of Todd's son Kyle Chrisley), remain under Savannah's care.
