KUCHING, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Sarawak is targeting to clinch the 14th Para Sukma Games champion in Johor next year and is busy preparing its athletes in all 10 events in competition.
State Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said this included medal target in archery which has not been competed by the state before.
“In the last Sukma, we did not contest in archery but next year we will be fielding two Sarawakian archers who are now training in Kuala Lumpur,” she told reporters after officiating the closing of Sarawak Carnival for People with Disabilities (Kokus) 2019 here today.
In the 2018 Para Sukma Games in Perak, Sarawak successfully defended its title for the 13th time with 61 gold, 62 silver and 40 bronze medals.
"This year we will plan programmes to identify new talents as the new Para Sukma Games ruling now disallowed athletes reaching 40 years old and above,” she said.
