KUCHING, Dec 1 — The Sarawak government will pay out a special incentive of one-and-half months’ salary or at least RM2,000 each to the state’s civil servants in recognition of their contributions, Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said today.

He also announced a special incentive of RM500 each for the 137,000 federal civil servants in Sarawak.

“The payment will be made before the end of this year,” the premier said in his winding-up speech at the state assembly.

“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government values the contribution and commitment of the state and federal civil servants in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in a professional way throughout this year,” said Abang Johari, who is also the state minister of finance and new economy.
