Sanusi promises to treat Pakatan-BN Opposition with fairness after Perikatan wins back Kedah
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has promised not to mistreat the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) Opposition after winning 33 out of 36 seats in yesterday’s state election.
Sanusi said according fair treatment to its rivals is part of Islamic principles, which is the basis of his party, PAS, news portal Free Malaysia Today reported this morning.
“To our friends in PH and Barisan Nasional, I promise that the state government will not mistreat anyone. We will be fair and loving, as what God demands us to be.
“Islamic principles will be our guide as we govern (Kedah),” he was quoted as telling a press conference at the Kedah PAS headquarters in Alor Setar after midnight.
PH won three seats, with PKR taking Bakar Arang and Sidam, and DAP, Kota Darul Aman.
BN lost in every Kedah state seat it contested.
Sanusi retained his Jeneri state seat with a 16,050-vote majority after securing 21,823 votes in a straight fight against Datuk Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim of BN who garnered only 5,773 votes.
Muhammad Sanusi who is from PAS, first won the seat in Election 2018, defeating Mahadzir Abdul Hamid (BN) and Mohd Nazri Abu Jassan (PH) by a 2,455-vote majority. This was before PH and BN teamed up last year after the November general election.
