Sandstorm hits Iraq's capital Baghdad

About one sandstorm a week has hit Iraq in the past few weeks in what Iraqis say is the worst such spate in living memory.

According to Iraq's ministry of health, 250 people were treated in hospital for suffocation since the storm started in the night between Sunday (June 12) and Monday (June 13).

Baghdad International Airport said in a statement earlier that flights were temporarily halted in the morning due to bad weather conditions but later on resumed.
