Sammi Cheng finally wins Best Actress at the HKFA

17 Apr – After being nominated so many times and never winning once, Sammi Cheng is finally able to bag her first Hong Kong Film Awards' Best Actress trophy.

As reported on Mingpao, the Cantopop darling, who won for her performance in "Lost Love", stated that it had always felt like the Best Actress award was out of reach for her, from the time she did comedy to her transition as a dramatic actor.

"It took a lot of work and a lot of difficulties... until I finally crossed the line," she said.

Speaking to the media backstage after her speech, Sammi stated that she will go home and celebrate with husband Andy Hui, whom she said has prepared a special dinner for her.

"I will thank him when I get home. He has been cheering me up and even sent me text messages," she said.

The actress bested worthy contenders Teresa Mo, Louisa So, Angela Yuen, and Sylvia Chang to win the accolade.
