Sam Smith's Brits performance receives over 100 Ofcom complaints

Sam Smith's performance at Saturday night's Brit Awards has received over 100 complaints to broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
The pop star performed their hit single Unholy with Kim Petras at the ceremony which took place at the O2 Arena.

The divisive performance saw Smith dressed as Satan and two backing dancers embracing for a kiss.
Ofcom confirmed it received 106 complaints about the awards bash which was just a week after Smith was criticised for their Grammys performance which featured satanic imagery.
During the Grammys, host Trevor Noah joked about Smith's devil costume: "No, mom, it wasn’t the actual devil... Yeah, you did warn me about Hollywood."
Smith's Brits performance was also criticised by Morrissey with the former Smiths singer accusing Capitol Records of promoting "satanism".
Smith was also reportedly hit by technical issues before his performance at the ceremony.
According to The Sun, Smith's performance was almost cancelled after the staging was beset by malfunctions.
Viewers were made aware of a technical hitch at the ceremony by host Mo Gilligan who then announced that Adele's performance from last year's awards would be shown to viewers on ITV while the issues were fixed.
Smith's performance ultimately went off without a hitch.
Morrissey, who is also signed to Smith's record label, wrote on his website: “Capitol Records (Los Angeles) proudly promotes Sam Smith’s ‘satanism’; yet they consider the honest truth of Morrissey’s factual ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ to be their biggest threat and they will not release it despite their contractual obligation and promise to do so."
The controversial musician's fourteenth album was originally supposed to be released through Capitol in early 2023 but in November Morrissey confirmed that the label had shelved the release.
