Saltwater Creeps Over South Carolina Coast as Tropical Storm Triggers High Surf

Parts of the South Carolina coast were placed under weather warnings as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of dangerous surf and waves up to six feet amid tropical storm conditions in the Atlantic.

Video shared by the Pawleys Island PD shows overwash affecting Myrtle Avenue on Wednesday morning. The police department also reported winds of 15-20 mph on the shore.

“Please do not drive through the saltwater. It will damage your vehicle, and the wake damages property,” police said on Twitter.

Tropical Storm Nicole caused flooding on Florida’s Atlantic coast on Wednesday. The storm was likely to become a hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said.
