KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said that he will chair a meeting next Monday that will decide the party’s candidates for the impending elections in six states.

He said Amanah will have no problem putting forward its best candidates.

“I will chair the Amanah meeting to decide the name of the candidates this coming Monday. God willing, we can decide the candidates who will compete in the state elections.

“I think it will not be a problem for Amanah to present the best candidates,” he said after launching the Payung Rahmah initiative with Jaya Grocer and Grab Malaysia at KL East Mall here today.

Salahuddin also said nothing stood in the way of Amanah contesting the state elections as the party has extensive experience, as part of Pakatan Harapan (PH), and now with its partner in the unity government, Barison Nasional (BN).

He added that the alliance between PH and BN must be strengthened so that it has the desired effect at the ballot box in the six states concerned, especially Kelantan and Terengganu.

“We work well with BN, especially in Kelantan and Terengganu, and this combination must be strengthened.

“We hope that the collaboration between PH and BN makes a difference in this election, especially in Kelantan and Terengganu,” he said.

Yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) set August 12 as voting day in elections that will be held simultaneously in six states, namely Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh also announced that nomination day was set for July 29, while early voting would take place on August 8.
