MELAKA, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Former national captain Safiq Rahim has signed a one-season contract with Melaka United, the squad he helped steer to sixth place in the 2019 Super League.
He signed the contract at a ceremony here today, witnessed by Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA) president Damian Yeo Shen Li.
Safiq, when met by Bernama, said the agreement was reached after a week of talks with the association.
"I believe that with the revamp of the team and head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan’s line-up, Melaka United can shine in the upcoming Super League and I will give my best," he said.
Damian said Safiq’s credibility and vast experience are an asset to the team.
"He will also be the captain next season, replacing Shukor Adan who will no longer play for Melaka United," he said.
