Sabrina Ionescu posts WNBA's 10th triple-double in sixth career game
Sabrina Ionescu opened the WNBA's season with a winning 3-pointer. It didn't take long for her to follow that up with the 10th triple-double in league history.
The New York Liberty star broke new ground on Tuesday with 26 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds against the Minnesota Lynx to record her first career WNBA triple-double. At 23 years old, she is the youngest player in league history to accomplish the feat.
Ionescu's night powered an 86-75 win for the 3-0 Liberty, who have now surpassed their 2020 season win total through three games.

Ionescu's triple-double is the ninth in regular-season history and 10th including playoffs. Only one player, Sheryl Swoopes, has recorded multiple triple-doubles in her career, with one of her two being the league's lone playoff triple-double.
With a triple-double in her sixth career game, Ionescu remains primed to rewrite the league's history books in the way she is uniquely equipped to do.
Ionescu became the NCAA's all-time leader in triple-doubles among women as a sophomore at Oregon, the all-time leader among men and women with 13 as a junior and left Eugene with 26 to her name. She is also the only player in NCAA history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in her career.
With that much history behind her, Ionescu setting the WNBA career triple-double record doesn't seem to be as much a matter of "if," but "when." Just how high she'll set the bar, we can only watch and find out.
