Sabrina Carpenter Claps Back at Hateful Troll with Screenshots: ‘I’m a Grateful Grateful Grateful Girl’
The ‘Espresso’ singer’s latest single, ‘Please Please Please,’ reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 24
Please, please, please, don’t try to drag Sabrina Carpenter!
A keyboard critic of her latest single, “Please Please Please,” learned that the hard way when their hateful comment about the song didn’t age too well.
After the “Espresso” singer’s follow-up hit reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Monday, June 24, she clapped back at the online troll by posting screenshots of the chart rankings alongside his commentary.
“I don’t think I've ever seen someone fumble a second single this hard. my goodness,” read the criticism, posted on X (formerly Twitter) in early June.
Carpenter, 25, replied with the screenshots and this playful message: “ohhhh 😭😭😭 I’m a grateful grateful grateful girl.”
“Please Please Please” is Carpenter’s first No. 1 in her decade-long career. Her breakout hit “Espresso” landed at No. 4 on this week’s Hot 100 and peaked at No. 3 earlier this month.
Helping propel “Please Please Please” to the top was its music video, which costarred Carpenter’s real-life boyfriend, Saltburn star Barry Keoghan.
The catchy song, produced by frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, also catapulted to the top thanks to praise from celebrities.
The Kissing Booth star Joey King recently gushed about the song, telling PEOPLE, “I’m so happy for her and I just can’t stop singing 'Please Please Please' ... get out of my head. It's so rude of her to make a hit like that. It's also so rude to make such an addicting music video. It's really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.”

On June 24, Carpenter also posted the screenshots to Instagram, with an extended caption in which she thanked Antonoff for his producing prowess, Amy Allen for cowriting and Laura Sisk for engineering the audio.
“MY FIRST #1 on the @billboard HOT 100!!!!!!! And espresso at #4.. I’m very immensely grateful so i will surely always remember this day for the rest of my life!” Carpenter wrote. “@jackantonoff @amyallen i deeply love this song and i love you both!!!!! I love our pitchy claps!!!!! I love @sharp_stick !!!! good things come in three’s 🥲.”
