Ryan Benoit pulled from UFC Fight Night for not making weight, sent to hospital

Ryan Benoit will not take on Zarrukh Adashev at UFC Fight Night on Saturday as expected. Benoit failed to make weight during a scary scene Friday, and had to be sent to the hospital.

Officials attempted to weigh Benoit twice. On the first attempt, Benoit could not stand on the scale long enough to get an accurate weight. He was taken backstage to see a doctor, and emerged five minutes later to be weighed again.

Benoit came in at 129 pounds, a couple pounds over the flyweight limit. He needed help getting on the scale and had trouble standing by himself while being weighed.

Benoit's manager, Oren Hodak, said Benoit was taken to the hospital following the second weigh-in attempt, according to ESPN.

Ryan Benoit fought last fight as a flyweight

Benoit has fought as both a flyweight and featherweight over his UFC career. Benoit's last fight — a loss to Tim Elliott — came as a flyweight. Benoit was able to make weight for that bout.

Benoit has a 10-7 record in UFC. He lost his last two fights, and was looking to turn things around against Adashev.
