Russian Cargo Ship Successfully Refloated at Cornwall

The Russian vessel Kuzma Minin, which ran aground with 18 people on board off the Cornish coast on December 18, was successfully refloated by rescue services at around 2 pm on the same day.

Emergency services were sent to assist the bulk carrier off the coast at Falmouth from 6.15 am, the RNLI said. Around noon, the coastguard said that all crew were safe and that a refloat would be attempted. Conditions remained difficult, the coastguard said, with 60 mph winds. Five tugs and a salvage vessel were involved in the refloat, the coastguard said. Credit: @fuzzier1 via Storyful
