Helios and Luiza tied the knot in St Petersburg in mid-March.
Their plan was to emigrate to Texas, where he was due to start a new job in May.
But lockdown put the brakes on that plan, and now they are honeymooning in her one-bedroom flat in the Russian city.
Their only celebration options? Taking brisk walks with Cherry the dog as their authorized form of daily exercise.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEWLYWEDS, BRAZILIAN NATIONAL, HELIOS, AND RUSSIAN NATIONAL, LUIZA, SAYING:
HELIOS: "We decided to marry. And here we are - in lockdown. We decided to make some honeymoons. But we are not allowed as well to depart. It was not planned. But we had a good party, a small party. It was lucky because, I think maybe one week after it was lockdown. You can't marry right now, you cannot book for marriage. So after one week or two weeks they closed everything, so we got lucky, but here we are! Having our honeymoon!"
LUIZA: "One month of honeymoon (LAUGHS) literally."
Although the pair are happy newlyweds Luiza is concerned by the fact that her job contract expires at the end of April.
And Helios, who is originally from Brazil, says his U.S. job offer is currently still valid but a potential start-date has not been discussed.
