The President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Vadym Gutzeit, commented on the refusal of Russian athletes to go to the World Aquatics Championships in Qatar under a neutral flag in a post on his Facebook page on Jan. 21.

This World Championships was the last opportunity for Russian jumpers and synchronized swimmers to obtain licenses for the Paris Olympics, the official noted.

"World Aquatics Championships in Qatar — without Russians‼" Gutzeit wrote.

"The registration for the World Aquatics Championships, which will be held from Feb. 2 to 18, 2024 in Qatar, has recently ended. The Russian athletes refused to compete under a neutral flag!”

The Fourth Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon 2024 are also being held without Russian athletes. They were not present at the Third European Games in Poland in 2023

According to the IOC, athletes from Russia and Belarus will be able to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris only as individual athletes under a neutral flag.

The International Federation for Equestrian Sports has also said that Russian and Belarusian athletes will not participate in the Games in this sport.

Latvian MPs have called on France to prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in the 2024 Olympics.
