Russian anti-satellite missile test was 'reckless' - NATO

"This has created a lot of debris ... This was a reckless act by Russia," Stoltenberg said after being debriefed by the United States, stressing the importance of protecting systems on earth that are dependent on satellites.

Russia's Defence Ministry said the debris from the test had not posed a threat to the ISS, and that Washington knew this.

Stoltenberg made the comments as he arrived to be a guest at a meeting of EU defence ministers, in part overshadowed by the migrant crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.
