Russia escalates drone strikes on civilians in southern Ukraine by 40%

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces used 234 FPV drones against civilians in the frontline areas of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts, Southern Defense Forces reported on Telegram on March 24.

This marks an increase of nearly 40% compared to the previous day.

Additionally, Russian military usage of fragmentation munitions dropped from UAVs has risen by 15% daily. In the last day alone, 269 such shells were dropped, and 13 Lancet attack drones were launched. The Southern Defense Forces have noted the effectiveness of Ukrainian electronic warfare against these weapons.

Occupation forces conducted precision strikes in Mykolaiv Oblast with cruise and ballistic missiles during the day, and used nine guided aerial bombs along with unguided aerial missiles on the Orikhiv front, as well as two guided aerial bombs in Kherson Oblast.

Although there were no civilian fatalities, three people were wounded according to the report.

During the overnight period of March 23rd to 24th, Russia attacked Ukraine with 29 cruise missiles and 28 Shahed drones. Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, stated that air defense forces successfully destroyed 43 air targets. Explosions were reported in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv oblasts, while air defense measures were active in Kyiv and Lviv oblasts.
