Which songs are rumoured to be about Joe Alwyn on TTPD?
If there's one person (OK, two people) we wouldn't like to be today, it's Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy.
'Down Bad'
So, Taylor got some criticism for reportedly dating Matty due to his previous controversies, including comments about Ice Spice's appearance and even comments about Tay herself. Now, fans think she's alluding to that in this new song.
"They’ll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you," she sings. Maybe she's talking about people criticizing her for dating him?
'But Daddy I Love Him'
In this song, she sings about a similar theme of wanting a relationship to work and loving someone despite criticism from others.
"'Stay away from her' the saboteurs protested too much... No I'm not coming to my senses, I know it's crazy but he's the one I want," she sings. Hm, interesting!
'I Can Fix Him (No Really, I Can)'
Another one! So, in this song, Taylor sings about trying to change a man (we've all been there, am I right?) and references him being controversial, smoking and more. Sounds a bit like Matty, if you ask us!
"They shake their heads saying, 'God, help her' when I tell 'em he's my man but your good Lord doesn't need to lift a finger. I can fix him, no, really, I can," she sings.
'Fortnight'
So, while the lyrics for this track featuring Post Malone aren't super telling, we do know that Matty and Taylor are said to have dated for only a few weeks, which is why fans think that 'Fortnight' is about him.
The song is about a short-lived, intense romance. "I love you, it’s ruining my life, I touched you for only a fortnight... I call you up but you won’t pick up, another fortnight lost in America" she sings.
These are all rumored references to Matty, of course, as Taylor chooses to remain tight-lipped about the inspirations behind her music. What we do know is that we'll be singing along to these on the Eras Tour anyway!
