Rubbish was seen on Bournemouth Beach in England on June 24 as people flocked to the area during warm weather.
Local media reported that thousands visited the beach on what was the UK’s hottest day of 2020, according to the Met Office, with temperatures climbing to 32.6 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) at Heathrow. The hot weather was expected to last through Friday, with heatwave conditions in some areas.
Local council leader Vikki Slade appealed for people to stay away from the area, while Assistant Chief Constable Sam de Reya, of Dorset Police, said: “These are unprecedented times and we are urging people to stay away from the area of Bournemouth Beach and other Dorset beaches."
Bournemouth City Council declared a “major incident” on June 25, saying local services were being overwhelmed by thousands of people flocking to beaches. They confirmed an issue with “excessive waste” on the beach. Credit: @mathewthurgood via Storyful
