Royal news - live: Harry and Meghan Markle ‘reach out’ to Kate Middleton as ‘homesick’ prince eyes UK home

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly “reached out” to the Princess of Wales amid her ongoing cancer battle.

According to an insider, the Sussexes want to let bygones be bygones and repair their frosty relationship with the royal family.

“All they can do is continue to reach out and offer olive branches,” a source told Closer magazine.

“Despite all their bad blood, [Meghan’s] heart does go out to Kate – she can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her.”

The revelation comes amid claims that the Duke of Sussex is reportedly “homesick” and searching for a new residence in the UK.

Harry last visited the UK alone in May on a visit that saw him celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

He stayed in a London hotel on the visit after he and Meghan Markle officially vacated their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, last June.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digitial: “I hear that Harry is both content with his new lifestyle and homesick.”

King Charles ‘considering’ American visit to see his grandchildren

06:00 , Emma Guinness

King Charles is reportedly “considering” a visit across the pond to see his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Despite Lilibet now being three years old, she has reportedly only met her grandfather once.

However, as the Monarch, 75, is currently battling an undisclosed form of cancer and does not appear to have the best relationship with his youngest son, who he has not seen since February, it could be some time before this visit takes place.

Royal commentator Tom Quinn told the Mirror: “Charles has had discussions about an official visit to the United States at some time in the future, and there is no doubt if it goes ahead he would build in time to visit his youngest son and his grandchildren, but there are mountains of planning to be overcome before that becomes even a remote possibility.”

William celebrates 42nd birthday after watching England lose to Denmark at the Euro 2024

04:30 , Shahana Yasmin

The Prince of Wales will be celebrating his birthday today as he turns 42.

William was in Frankfurt, Germany, hoping to watch England beat Denmark at the Euro 2024 as an early birthday present. Instead, the English Football Association president had to settle for watching the Three Lions drawing 1-1 in their second match of the tournament.

Since his birthday last year, William has launched a five-year drive to eradicate homelessness in six locations around the UK, named Homewards.

The royal has had a difficult year, with both his wife, the Princess of Wales, and father, the King, diagnosed with cancer.

Kate made her first public appearance of 2023 at the King’s official birthday parade, along with William and their three children.

Queen Camilla no longer the ‘wicked stepmother'

04:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal expert has weighed in on Prince William’s increasingly close bond with Queen Camilla.

This was clear for all to see yesterday as the pair arrived at Royal Ascot in a carriage together without their respective partners, who are both battling cancer.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! magazine: “Recent events have obviously brought William and Camilla much closer. They have been left, almost literally, nursing the Crown while the King and the Princess recover.

“Their teams will be working more closely to coordinate diaries and cover the engagements that have been planned, and Camilla and William are bound to have been in much closer regular contact.”

The pair’s growing relationship is the complete opposite of what Prince Harry feared in his 2023 memoir Spare.

He wrote: “I remember wondering... if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the wicked stepmothers in the stories.”

Kate Middleton has ‘same emotions and fear’ as any cancer patient

02:00 , Emma Guinness

The Princess of Wales has the “same emotions and fear” as any other cancer patient, Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary has claimed.

Ailsa Anderson made the comments following Kate’s return to public life last weekend, which saw her attend the king’s official birthday parade, Trooping the Colour.

Ahead of her appearance, Kate stressed that she is not “out of the woods” yet and still has good and bad days as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of the disease.

Kate appeared to be in high spirits at the event and smiled for the public in an Audrey Hepburn-esque white dress and hat.

Anderson told PEOPLE: “She might be the Princess of Wales, but she is still a mother and wife and going through the same set of emotions and worries and fears as anyone else in that set of circumstances would be.”

Prince Andrew wants daughters to inherit royal lodge

Friday 21 June 2024 00:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Andrew plans to pass on the lease of the 30-room royal lodge to his daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugine, it has been reported.

The revelation comes amid reports that King Charles has asked the disgraced Duke of York to move out of the royal residence in Windsor Great Park.

A source told the Daily Mail that Andrew’s reluctance to leave stems from his readiness for his daughters to inherit the property.

“[Andrew] said to be ready to bequeath the lease on Royal Lodge to his daughters,” they claimed.

Andrew’s residence at the Royal Lodge reportedly costs the crown an estimated £4 million a year.

Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘a very strong unit'

Thursday 20 June 2024 22:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal photographer has described the Prince and Princess of Wales as a “very strong” unit after last weekend’s Trooping the Colour.

The King’s official birthday parade saw Kate make her first public appearance of 2023 and photographer James Whatling believes they shared a genuine look of love.

He told HELLO! magazine: “It’s the look, the look between William and Kate. It happened over quite a few frames of it, because it wasn’t fleeting.

“If you look, you can look at the minutiae of it, because you’re taking 20 frames a second and so it goes from a little look, and then Kate’s smile broadens, and it’s lovely, and it’s very much a welcome back.

“They’re obviously a very strong unit.”

Thursday 20 June 2024 20:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal source has described Zara and Mike Tindall as the “glue” that holds the royal family together.

The revelation comes following their appearance at Royal Ascot.

Speaking to The Times earlier this year, the source described them as the “glue of their generation of royals, no matter how serious the occasion.”

They added of Zara, 43, and Mike, 45: “They can help take the family’s mind off the gravity of what is going on.”

New documentary explores Kate Middleton and King Charles’s close relationship

Thursday 20 June 2024 14:00 , Emma Guinness

The relationship between King Charles and the Princess of Wales is set to be explored in a new Channel 5 documentary airing this weekend.

Kate: A Queen for the Future will air at 9:20 pm on Saturday (22 June) and examine the close bond between the pair, which appears to have grown during their respective cancer battles.

Royal expert Richard Kay recounts in the documentary how they were treated by the same London Harley Street clinic earlier this year.

“The King actually made a point of going to see Kate and there’s this rather touching story of [Charles] in his dressing gown padding down to his daughter-in-law’s floor,” he recalls, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“They compared notes about the rather good hospital food, how their treatment was going. It was a moment of great affection.”

Harry and Meghan slammed for failing to wish King Charles happy birthday

Thursday 20 June 2024 13:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal commentator has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for failing to acknowledge King Charles’s official birthday.

The couple also failed to acknowledge the Monarch on Father’s Day.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield aimed Meghan, in particular, for launching two new products from her lifestyle brand, raspberry jam and dog biscuits, the day before Trooping the Colour.

This was coincidentally the day the Princess of Wales announced her intention to make her first public appearance of the year.

“Whether this was coincidental or not, they [Harry and Meghan] could have ended the negative headlines or talk of how inappropriate and catty this looks by wishing the King a happy birthday,” Schofield said on Heirs & Spares.

Prince Louis’s hilarious advice to the England Squad

Thursday 20 June 2024 12:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince William recently shared his youngest son’s hilarious advice to the England squad ahead of the 2024 Euros.

On a meeting with the team before they made their way to Germany, he explained that Prince Louis had suggested they “eat twice the amount” as they make their bid for victory.

He told the players: “I was on the school run this morning with the children and I said ‘What shall I say to the England team today?’

“The best bit of advice I got to ask you was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat.

“So I then had visions of all of you running around with massive great tummies and loads of stitches on the pitch so I think maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt.”

Kate Middleton ‘frequently turns’ to royal ‘secret weapon'

Thursday 20 June 2024 11:00 , Emma Guinness

As the Princess of Wales continues to battle cancer, an expert has claimed that she is being supported in her journey by a royal “secret weapon”.

Namely, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, 59, who Kate, 42, “frequently turns” to as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of the disease.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: “Even though a 17-year age gap seems a lot to bridge, the two women have a lot in common and became firm friends quite early on. Sophie knew exactly what lay in wait for Catherine as she joined the family and she knew it wouldn’t always be easy.

“By nature, Sophie is a kind and generous person who has always been happy to act as [a] sounding board, mentor, confidante... or sometimes just another girl to share a giggle with.

As reported by the Mirror, Bond added: “I have no doubt that Sophie has been someone to whom Catherine has frequently turned. They’ve often been seen enjoying a private joke in public and certainly seem more like sisters than aunt and niece by marriage.”

Prince Harry suffers ‘humiliation after humiliation’ amid rift with family

Thursday 20 June 2024 10:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry has suffered “humiliation after humiliation” in recent weeks as a result of his frosty relationship with his immediate family, an expert has claimed.

The first so-called humiliation came on his recent trip to the UK when King Charles declined the opportunity to see him for the first time in months, citing his busy schedule.

Harry was then rejected by his friend Hugh Grosvenor, who left him off the invite to the “society wedding of the year” but had Prince William serve as an usher.

Most recently, Harry was rejected when he reportedly failed to receive an invite to the King’s official birthday parade, the Trooping the Colour.

Royal expert Emily Andrews wrote in Woman magazine: “It has been humiliation after humiliation for Prince Harry.

“Harry has broken so many bonds of trust with so many people, it is difficult to see him ever attending a society wedding or Trooping the Colour again.”

Prince Edward mocks the Sussexes in throwback interview asking ‘Who?’

Thursday 20 June 2024 08:16 , Emma Guinness

The Queen’s youngest son feigned ignorance when asked about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s notorious tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Prince Edward simply said “Oprah who?” when quizzed by The Telegraph about the 2021 interview which saw the couple explain in detail why they stepped down was working royals in 2020.

His wife of 25 years Sophie simply added: “What interview?”

Harry and Meghan’s claims in the interview included allegations of racism and the claim that Meghan did not receive appropriate support when suffering with her mental health.

The throwback reaction comes amid claims that Harry is “homesick” and currently househunting in the UK while Meghan feels “rejected” by the country she once called home.

Meghan Markle ‘irritated’ by Victoria Beckham’s wealth

Thursday 20 June 2024 08:00 , Emma Guinness

A biographer has claimed that Meghan Markle was “irritated” by Victoria Beckham’s wealth.

The claim was made by Tom Bower in his explosive new book House of Beckham, which also claims that Meghan believed herself to be socially above Victoria as a member of the royal family.

“She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself,” Bower wrote. “They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”

Following reports that Prince Harry is “homesick”, a royal expert has claimed that Meghan Markle feels “rejected by the UK”.

This comes after the couple moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as working members of the royal family.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said that while Markle isn’t happy with her apparent rejection from the British public, she is focusing her attention on winning over Hollywood instead.

He told Fox News Digital: “She feels rejected by the UK and that does not sit well with her.

“I don’t even think she has any desire to win them over again. Meghan is totally focused on winning over the elite in Hollywood. With jam. And dog treats.”

The actor, 69, told PEOPLE that once upon a time he had been in talks to star in a sequel to The Bodyguard with the late Princess.

Child abuse ‘normalised for decades’ at King’s former Scottish school

Thursday 20 June 2024 03:00 , Emma Guinness

An inquiry has found that child abuse was “normalised for decades” at King Charles’s former school in Elgin, Scotland.

The findings about Gordonstoun and its junior school, Aberlour, were published by the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry.

They claimed that pupils at the institutions were “exposed to risks of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse” for years.

The inquiry chairwoman Lady Smith said: “I have no difficulty in finding that children were abused at Gordonstoun and Aberlour in a variety of ways over a long period of time.

“It was assumed the declaration of good intentions by founder Kurt Hahn was enough to ensure the school could be entrusted to provide appropriate residential care.

“At Gordonstoun, the assumption proved to be ill-founded, largely due to poor leadership.

“It was only after 1990 and the appointment of a headmaster who understood the importance of pastoral care that abuse eventually began to be addressed and a measure of trust was restored.”

Gordonstoun, of which the King is now a patron, has apologised to anyone affected by the abuse.

Harry and Meghan advised to stop cashing in on royal links

Thursday 20 June 2024 01:00 , Emma Guinness

Following claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reached out to the Princess of Wales, a royal expert has claimed that they need to stop cashing in on their royal links to achieve a reconciliation.

The claim comes following Prince Harry’s explosive 2023 memoir Spare and the couple’s Netflix series Harry & Meghan, both of which detailed their lives in the family.

“Members from the Royal Family have told Harry, if he wants a relationship with the rest of the family, then first and foremost, he has got to stop talking about them,” the royal correspondent Russell Myers told Sky News Australia.

“They can’t go about making money off their associations with the royal family. They’re going to [have to] sort of realize, if they’re going to have a relationship with the rest of the Royal Family, they can’t go about trashing them.”

He added: “Hopefully, they’ll see that the royal family are very united without them, and if they do want a relationship, going forward, they need to take the steam out of their relationship and out of the things they say sometimes.”

Insiders claim Meghan Markle did not ‘snub’ Kate Middleton

Wednesday 19 June 2024 23:00 , Emma Guinness

Claims that Meghan Markle deliberately snubbed Kate Middleton amid her return to public life have been shut down by insiders.

They spoke out after commentators noticed that Prince Harry’s close friend, Nacho Figueras, shared pictures of her latest American Riviera Orchard products on Instagram the same day Kate announced her return.

This included a picture of a limited edition raspberry jam, which appeared to be one of only two made.

The insiders told The Daily Beast: “Meghan did not order up the post from Figueras, and in fact had no input over when or if he would post.

“Of course, ceding exact control over context and timings is an inherent risk in a user-led social media campaign, especially when your cheerleaders are powerful celebrities in their own right who might not react well to having their posts micromanaged.”

Prince Harry’s ‘unforgivable’ words about Camilla

Wednesday 19 June 2024 21:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal expert has claimed that King Charles believes Prince Harry’s memoir’s portrayal of Queen Camilla was “unforgivable”.

This comes after the Monarch failed to meet his youngest son on his recent trip to the UK, meaning that they have not seen each other since he announced his cancer diagnosis in February.

Christopher Andersen, a royal author, told Fox News Digital: “I think people have to realize that the one thing that Charles finds unforgivable is criticism of Camilla.

“There’s no criticism of Camilla. And unfortunately for Harry… Harry said some pretty devastating things about her [in Spare]. He made it clear that he felt she was… the villain in the piece.

“I think that still bothers the king, and I don’t know that it will be easy for him to [forgive]. I don’t think they’ll ever forgive Harry for that.”

Harry and Meghan hope Kate’s return will ‘take the heat off them'

Wednesday 19 June 2024 19:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal insider has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping that Kate Middleton’s return will “take the heat off them”.

This comes amid reports that their relationship with their family has grown increasingly frosty.

The insider claims that the pair tried to reach out to the Princess of Wales amid her ongoing battle with cancer.

“They’ve jointly reached out to send well wishes, but they’re still not really in a place with Kate to warrant much of a response,” the insider told Closer magazine.

“When Kate gets back into action, their hope is that it might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William, and with the King, too.”

Meghan Markle ‘ordered’ Prince Harry to confront David Beckham

Wednesday 19 June 2024 17:00 , Emma Guinness

Meghan Markle allegedly “ordered” Prince Harry to confront David Beckham after concluding that information about her had been leaked to the press.

The revelation was made by Tom Bower in his explosive new biography of the Beckhams, House of Beckham, where he also claimed that Meghan “put on airs” around Victoria.

“Only after The Sun reported how Victoria had given Meghan make-up advice did the relationship between the two ambitious women crash,” Bower explained.

“Sensitive to the media’s probing into her unusual past, Meghan was outraged by The Sun’s report. This was the latest of a series of nasty revelations by London’s newspapers.

“Harry was ordered to complain to David Beckham.”

Victoria proceeded to deny that any information had been leaked by her and blamed a beautician, but the biographer claims “the culprit was probably a boastful publicist”.

Kate Middleton’s appearance took its toll on her health, expert claims

Wednesday 19 June 2024 14:00 , Emma Guinness

The Princess of Wales made her long-awaited return to public life at last weekend’s Trooping the Colour and an expert believes it took its toll.

She stepped back from her duties in January to undergo planned abdominal surgery before revealing that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

In an update about her health last week, Kate admitted that she is “not out of the woods” yet and has good and bad days as she undergoes “preventative chemotherapy”.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight: “If you didn’t know that she was going through cancer treatment, you would never have guessed.

“I think a day like Saturday, where she knows the eyes of the world are on her, there is a huge amount of scrutiny that will take its toll.

“I think we can probably imagine that she probably had a long and well-deserved rest afterwards. I don’t think we can expect to see her in public for a little while,” Nicholl said, adding that it’s “going to take some recovery from.”

Nicholl added: “She was on her feet for a long period of time.”

“There was a moment where she was watching the parade... and was offered a seat, which she gratefully accepted.”

“That’s just a bit of an acknowledgement that she is not as strong, not as fit, as she was before she went into this treatment.”

Fergie addresses possibility of remarrying Prince Andrew

Wednesday 19 June 2024 13:30 , Emma Guinness

Sarah Ferguson has finally addressed the long-standing rumours that she will remarry Prince Andrew.

The pair first tied the knot back in 1986 before divorcing a decade later, but despite the royals no longer being married, they have remained close.

They currently live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, the Daily Mail reports.

Addressing the possibility of a second marriage, Fergie said: “I get asked that all the time [about whether they will remarry].”

“We’re happy with the way we are right now, thank you.”

At the time of the pair’s separation in 1992, they cited Andrew’s demanding naval career as the reason for their split.

Harry and Meghan ‘reach out’ to Kate Middleton

Wednesday 19 June 2024 13:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly “reached out” to the Princess of Wales amid her ongoing cancer battle.

An insider has claimed that the pair want to let bygones be bygones and repair their seemingly frosty relationship with the royal family.

“All they can do is continue to reach out and offer olive branches,” a source told Closer magazine.

“Despite all their bad blood, [Meghan’s] heart does go out to Kate – she can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her.

“Meghan has made it clear she’d love nothing more than to move past all the nonsense and find a way towards healing for everyone’s sake. She’s ready to let the anger and bitterness go.”

Explosive new biography brands Meghan Markle ‘delusional'

Wednesday 19 June 2024 11:05 , Emma Guinness

Meghan Markle has been branded “delusional” in a new biography of the Beckhams that claims she socially considered herself superior to Victoria.

Tom Bower wrote in House of Beckham that this did not stop the Duchess of Sussex from accepting the couple’s hospitality until she grew paranoid that they had allegedly leaked information about her to the press.

“In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame,” Bower wrote. “As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.

“She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”

The biographer added: “Only after The Sun reported how Victoria had given Meghan make-up advice did the relationship between the two ambitious women crash.

“Sensitive to the media’s probing into her unusual past, Meghan was outraged by The Sun’s report. This was the latest of a series of nasty revelations by London’s newspapers.

“Harry was ordered to complain to David Beckham.”

States of Guernsey will get public holiday for King’s visit

Wednesday 19 June 2024 09:30 , Emma Guinness

The States of Guernsey will get to enjoy a public holiday in honour of King Charles’s visit next month, it has been revealed.

The Monarch is set to visit the Bailiwick alongside Queen Camilla on 16 July.

This will be his first visit in over a decade, having last visited in 2012, back when he was still the Prince of Wales.

Economic Development bosses have said the holiday will mark “the historic significance” of the visit and the “importance of Guernsey’s constitutional relationship as a Crown dependency”.

Insider claims Harry and Meghan want to ‘let go’ of their fued with royals

Wednesday 19 June 2024 09:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s frosty relationship with the royal family could soon come to an end, an insider has claimed.

Citing the Duchess of Sussex’s desire “to come across as the bigger person”, the insider has claimed that Markle has realised that it is time to let any persisting resentment go, especially in light of King Charles and Kate Middleton’s ongoing cancer battles.

The source told Closer magazine: “Meghan’s desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them – appearing like some sort of royal saviour could only do her image good.

“And, despite all their bad blood, her heart does go out to Kate - she can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her.

“Meghan has made it clear she’d love nothing more than to move past all the nonsense and find a way towards healing for everyone’s sake. She’s ready to let the anger and bitterness go.”

Sunak and Starmer to attend state banquet before election

Wednesday 19 June 2024 08:30 , Emma Guinness

Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Keir Starmer as expected to attend a Japanese state banquet ahead of next month’s election.

King Charles is hosting the event in honour of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday next week.

It has been stressed that this is not a political visit in light of the upcoming General Election, which prevents the royal family from attending any events which could distract from the ongoing campaigns.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry official said: “In Japan, Their Majesties (the emperor and empress) are not engaged in the political or the economic spheres so we don’t have any plans to promote our economic relationship by this visit itself.

“This visit is actually to promote our friendly bilateral relations in culture, [and] science.”

Harry and Meghan ‘planning world tour'

Wednesday 19 June 2024 08:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning a “world tour” after their recent, unofficial trip to Nigeria as private citizens.

An unidentified source claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are likely to visit Ghana first.

They told the Mirror: “There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth.”

They added: “Several top names have already visited Ghana in recent years from Ed Sheeran to Naomi Campbell and One Direction’s Liam Payne.”

TalkTV host Andre Walker claimed on That Was The Woke That Was that the pair have been encouraged by the success of their trip to Nigeria, which acknowledged the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

“Harry and Meghan are planning a world tour this summer following on from the success of their trip to Nigeria,” he said.

King Charles ‘orchestrated’ powerful change at Trooping the Colour

Wednesday 19 June 2024 06:00 , Emma Guinness

King Charles changed the order of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony at this year’s Trooping the Colour for a poignant reason, it has been claimed.

The Monarch’s former butler Grant Harrold believes that the King broke with royal protocol to reflect the fact that he and the Princess of Wales are both battling cancer, the Express reports.

He noted that traditionally Kate and Prince William would stand closest together, but this was not the case at this year’s event, which marked the Princess’s first public appearance of 2024.

Instead, the Princess stood close to both her husband and the King in a move that was reportedly “orchestrated” by the Monarch.

Minister who comforted royals after Queen’s death honoured

Wednesday 19 June 2024 04:00 , Emma Guinness

A Scottish minister who comforted the royal family after the Queen’s death at Balmoral has been recognised for his work by King Charles in his birthday honours list.

Reverand Kenneth MacKenzie of the Parish of Braemar and Crathie in Aberdeenshire was made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) for his services.

He said that he did what any of his colleagues would have done in the same situation.

“I am honoured to have been awarded this recognition directly by His Majesty the King,” he said.

“In making this presentation, he, and by extension other members of the royal family, has once again publicly acknowledged and expressed his gratitude for the prayerful pastoral support that has been offered to him and the family by the church and in particular by the Chapel Royal in Scotland down through the ages, and especially in recent years.

“These awards are only ever given to individuals, but in every case, the recipient has always represented a much wider body.

“At the time of the late Queen’s death in Balmoral, I was the chaplain most closely engaged with the royal family and was simply being and doing what any of my colleagues would be and do in any similar situation.”

Harry and Meghan snubbed from Trooping the Colour for this reason

Wednesday 19 June 2024 02:00 , Emma Guinness

A royal expert has speculated about why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not invited to this year’s Trooping the Colour.

The pair, who stepped down as working royals in 2020, did not attend the King’s official birthday parade in 2023 either.

Royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror that while the possibility of inviting the Sussexes was considered, it was ultimately decided against because of ongoing tensions.

“There was a brief discussion among the senior royals about inviting Harry and Meghan to Trooping the Colour,” he said.

“But the idea was quickly dismissed, because even if the couple accepted the invitation there is a feeling that they cast a dark shadow over everything.”

Westminster Abbey guests will soon be able to enter like royalty

Wednesday 19 June 2024 00:00 , Emma Guinness

Guests to Westminster Abbey in London will soon be able to get a taste of what life as a member of the royal family feels like.

This is because Queen Camila has become the patron of a new building project that will allow guests to enter the building through the Great West Door for the first time.

Construction work on the new King Charles III Sacristy entrance lobby, which will cost an estimated £13 million, is set to begin this year and conclude in 2026.

The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle said: “This splendid building, which is both new and old, will transform the welcome our visitors receive and, more importantly, change the way they see Westminster Abbey.

“The full drama of this shrine and house of memory is best appreciated by approaching it from the Great West Doors.

“The transepts and aisles will emerge calmer and more graceful as we move chairs and ticketing booths out of the abbey.

“It is a building fit for a King and for an abbey whose faith and ministry is both old and new.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle looking to ‘split’ their time between US and UK

Tuesday 18 June 2024 21:00 , Emma Guinness

Following the news that Prince Harry is allegedly hunting for a UK residence, a former royal butler has claimed that he and Meghan Markle will split their time between the UK and the USA.

The couple left the UK in 2020 for a new life in California, officially giving up their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, last June.

Grant Harrold, a former butler to King Charles, told The New York Post: “If Harry does buy a place in the UK, he and Meghan will live here for part of the year and part of the year in the States, that was the original idea.

“I would assume that this would mean Meghan would also be coming to the UK and you’d see them spending so many months of the year here.”

News of Harry’s alleged plan to have a more permanent base in the UK comes after he reportedly stayed in a London hotel on his recent visit to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

Royal expert claims Prince Harry is ‘homesick’

Tuesday 18 June 2024 19:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry is reportedly hunting for a residence in the UK because he is “homesick”.

The Duke of Sussex moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as a working royal and officially vacated his UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, last June.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digitial that the Prince was “likely permitted” to look for a new British residence by Meghan Markle.

“I hear that Harry is both content with his new lifestyle and homesick. It just depends on the day,” Schofield said.

“I’m sure Harry could get homesick, and we know that he is prone to wearing his heart on his sleeve. Meghan has likely permitted him to try to establish an additional residence in the UK if that will make him happy, but I doubt she has any desire to participate in the process or visit.”

Harry and Meghan’s reaction to Father’s Day

Tuesday 18 June 2024 18:00 , Emma Guinness

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not acknowledge Father’s Day on their online platform.

This comes after King Charles failed to meet his youngest son on his recent trip to the UK, even though the pair have not seen each other since February.

Prince William, meanwhile, chose to acknowledge the event and posted a throwback picture of himself and the now-Monarch on 16 June, which notably did not include Prince Harry.

He simply wrote: “Happy Father’s Day, Pa. W.”

Piers Morgan under fire for ‘insensitive’ Kate Middleton comments

Tuesday 18 June 2024 13:00 , Emma Guinness

Piers Morgan has been slammed for commenting on Kate Middleton’s appearance after she stepped out in public for the first time this year.

Describing her as “pretty thin”, the outspoken host, who also suggested that she and King Charles should reveal the type of cancer they are suffering from, was criticised by many online.

Reacting to the host’s controversial comments on YouTube, one viewer wrote: “[Piers] they do not have to tell you what type of cancer at all. They didn’t even have to tell you they have cancer. She has always been thin.

“The king already stated he had a prostate treatment which is very private. Average people don’t have the scrutiny that Catherine deals with.” [sic]

When is Kate Middleton’s next public appearance?

Tuesday 18 June 2024 12:30 , Emma Guinness

The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance of 2024 at the King’s official birthday parade on Saturday.

When announcing her intention to attend, Kate, who was last seen in public on Christmas Day last year, said that she hopes “to join a few public engagements over the summer.”

As the Princess is still receiving treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer, it appears that these will be decided on a case-by-case basis as she was not present at yesterday’s Order of the Garter service.

Explaining her current situation in a statement, she wrote: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

Prince Harry absent from Prince William’s Father’s Day post

Tuesday 18 June 2024 11:30 , Emma Guinness

Prince William shared a heartfelt Father’s Day post in celebration of King Charles and the absence of Prince Harry in the picture did not go unnoticed.

This comes amid tense relations between the Duke of Sussex and his immediate family, which are seemingly so strained that he saw none of them on his recent trip to the UK.

“Happy Father’s Day, Pa. W,” the Prince of Wales wrote on Twitter (X) alongside a picture of just himself and his father.

Reacting to Harry’s absence from the picture on Lorraine, royal expert Russell Myers said it could suggest that relations between the brothers are worse than ever.

Cancer charities praise Princess of Wales’s return to public life

Tuesday 18 June 2024 11:00 , Emma Guinness

Charities have praised the Princess of Wales for stepping back into the public eye amid her cancer battle.

Kate made her first public appearance of the year at the King’s official birthday on Saturday, announcing that she has made significant progress in her treatment on Friday but is “not out of the woods” yet.

She added in the poignant statement that she hopes “to join a few public engagements over the summer.”

A spokesperson for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “It [was] an absolute pleasure to see her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales’ at Trooping the Colour today.

“As her Royal Highness said in her comments [on Friday], cancer treatment can come with both good days and bad days, and I’m sure her attending the event will inspire so many people around the world who are managing the challenging effects of cancer treatment.”

Chief executive of cancer support charity Maggie’s, Dame Laura Lee, similarly added: “By highlighting that there are good days and bad days, the Princess is helping to draw attention and normalise the reality of living with cancer.

“Our experts in our centres can help people navigate how to manage each day at a time and to live with the unexpected, just as the Princess is clearly doing – helping us all understand that cancer is not a straight line or a linear process.”
