Rough Surf Causes 'Extensive Damage' to Outer Banks Beach Structures in North Carolina

High surf damaged multiple beach structures along the Outer Banks in North Carolina as “severe” weather moved into the area on Wednesday, December 16, local officials said.

Sam Walker with news outlet OBX Today shared this footage of choppy surf and damaged beach access stairways in Kill Devil Hills, a coastal town along the Outer Banks.

The town of Kill Devil Hills said two beach access points were closed on Wednesday after “extremely rough beach conditions caused extensive damage.”
