21 April – Music producer Roslan Aziz recently revealed that he is suffering from stage four lymphoma.
The 60-year-old shared the news with Astro Awani, saying that he first found out about his condition upon a medical checkup in November last year following severe stomach pains.
Roslan admitted that he had the inkling of his condition after the doctor told him to undergo a thorough examination, including blood tests and an MRI.
"Of course, I was devastated at first when the doctor confirmed that I had cancer, but I am very grateful that despite being diagnosed, my condition is not so bad," he said. "I am aware that the life I will go through is very short because the end of the cancer is death."
Roslan also stated that he was told by his doctor earlier that he only has six more months to live, adding that that six months would give him time until June.
"I know I will die, so I have to be ready. There is nothing to cry about. It just means I will not be seeing my wife and kids anymore," he said, referring to wife Sopphilea Hamid, the mother of two of his five children, who was with him during the interview.
"I don't know what would happen without Sopphilea. We are not just husband and wife, but best friends too. She's the only best friend I have. We have never parted since we tied the knot 23 years ago. I am thankful to her," he said.
Despite his situation, the music producer stated that he is happy to receive support from his many friends, including director Tiara Jacquelina and actress Ida Nerina.
"The pain went away when friends came to chat. I really do appreciate their visits," he said.
"Cancer made me realise that we can't be alone in this world. You need your friends and family. I am thankful to have all that including my 83-year-old father. It's a silver lining that I never knew I had," he said.
