Even an experienced actress like Rose Byrne still has to shake off the nerves.

During a May 31 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show with Ezra costar and partner Bobby Cannavale, the 44-year-old actress admitted she was “so nervous” recording her guest appearance on Bluey.

“I'm such a fan. So when I was in the booth, I was just really nervous 'cause it meant so much to me. ‘Cause my children watch it, and it’s one of the few shows we all can watch together and I’m happy for them to watch,” she told host Drew Barrymore. “It’s entertaining, but it’s really gentle and it’s funny and it’s emotional.”

The Disney Junior cartoon is known for adapting more mature topics for its younger audience. In the season 3 episode “Onesies,” Byrne voiced the titular character’s aunt Brandy, who is grappling with infertility. The Australian actress praised the series for being “a great example of good parenting” and confessed that she has cried “many times” while watching with her kids Rocco, 8, and Rafael, 6.

“It’s really emotional,” the Bridesmaids star added. “It's that sort of show. It does, to a point, sort of transcend age for that childhood gap before they hit teenagers.”

Bluey concluded its third season on April 14 with a critically acclaimed, 28-minute finale. The episode, titled “The Sign,” ranked as the highest Disney Junior episode premiere of all time, nabbing 10.4 million viewers.

Across social media, fans of all ages shared their emotional reactions to the episode, which depicted Bluey’s family prepping to move out of their long-term residence — to her dismay.

“My daughter actually admitted that it made her cry and I’ve never known her to get emotional at films or TV,” a mom said in a compilation of parent reactions by Forbes. “She watched it at 8am and then forced me and her dad to watch it too because she was bursting to talk about it with someone.”

Although the main series is currently between seasons, Bluey fans can expect new content starting in July with a collection of 20 mini-episodes featuring the eponymous character and her sister Bingo. Disney+ and Disney Junior will roll out the Bluey Minisodes, one to three-minute shorts centered on the siblings’ bond.

As for season 4, the network hasn’t greenlit the show just yet but series producer Sam Moor teased more Bluey on the horizon.

"No, it is not the end for Bluey. I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you," Moor said to the BBC. "We have more in store and we are thinking what would be next."
