Roots Down Short Puffer Jackets: Details & pricing
If you're sick of boring, neutral outerwear for winter — this cozy, lightweight puffer is a stylish pick you may want to consider for winter 2023. On sale for $209, this sustainable style is made of a 100 per cent recycled polyester shell and features a fill made up of responsibly sourced down & feathers blend. This water-repellent style features a removable hood as well as an adjustable shock cord at the hood and hem openings. The pretty coat is available in sizes XXS-XXL.
Roots puffer jacket: Fit, quality and review
I'm often wary of puffer jackets because they can tend to give that Michelin Man look — but I couldn't resist the gorgeous floral colourway of this Roots puffer (BTW — if you're not into patterns, it also comes in classic black, green and flaxseed — all on sale for under $200). I've only had this puffer for a few weeks, but I can already tell it's going to be my go-to for winter. Not only is it surprisingly lightweight, but the slightly cropped silhouette is flattering with everything from jeans to skirts.
If the short style isn't for you, the Heather Cooper puffer also comes in a longer style.
When it comes to sizing, this puffer has a relaxed, slightly oversized fit while still being true to size. I snapped it up in my usual size — size small — and found that there's enough room to wear it either unzipped or zipped up, even with a bulkier sweater.
In terms of warmth, I haven't had a ton of opportunity to try this out on chilly days yet, but it was created to withstand temperatures of up to -25 C. Once we're in a winter wonderland in southern Ontario, I'll update you with a more thorough review on warmth, as well as how it stands up to wear — so make sure to check back in a few weeks.
