Shortly before last year came to a close, the Pantone Color Institute announced both Illuminating (a vibrant shade of yellow) and Ultimate Gray (a warm gray) as their colors of the year for 2021 with the hopes of sparking resilience and hopefulness. While these options from Pantone are likely already finding themselves on hundreds of Pinterest boards and paint swatches, Pantone is not alone in choosing a color of the year.
RoomMates Decor, the largest manufacturer of wall decals and decorative peel & stick products in North America, has announced its own 2021 color of the year.
With a tumultuous year now behind us, RoomMates has also opted for a color that is representative of optimism and joy. Announced in early January via the RoomMates blog, the brand has revealed that Green Aloe is their 2021 color of the year.
"Drawing on trends from the Pantone Spring 2021 color trend highlights palette, the RoomMates Color of the Year is meant to signify the change that we see coming," the RoomMates' blog post reads. "Putting 2020 behind us, we are looking ahead to a bright future. The entire Green Aloe collection is meant to signify the light at the end of the tunnel for the challenges that 2020 brought us, but it also symbolizes a way to welcome the growth 2021 will give to us."
RoomMates' spirit-lifting Green Aloe pick is joined by a palette of three complementary colors, which include Cali Coral, Painted Desert and Aqua Pura.
