Romantic Proposal on New Year's Eve Turns a Little Awkward
A romantic on-stage proposal at a New Year’s Eve party in Waikiki, Hawaii, failed to go exactly to plan, video shows.
Video filmed by Cassidy Watanabe captures the moment a woman reluctantly walks on stage, after being called up by her boyfriend. He makes a short speech before getting down on one knee and presents her with an engagement ring.
“I wanna say I’m crazy in love with you. You’re the love of my life. Will you make me the happiest man in the world? And will you marry me?” the man asks on stage, as the crowd cheers.
“It’s a simple yes or no!” the man says, when the woman fails to respond to his proposal.
“Yes” the woman replies, before the couple kiss.
According to Watanabe, the MC and DJ had stopped the music and called a man on stage. Watanabe said she was excited to capture a romantic moment but expressed disappointment, saying: “Turned out to be the most awkward moment I’ve ever witnessed.” Credit: Cassidy Watanabe via Storyful
